Good horsemanship is a combination of safety and tidiness. To ensure that both are adhered to at Woodside, the following rules apply at all times:
Eyes up - always use caution around loose horses and do not approach them when walking to the ring
Waivers/Releases are to be signed before handling or riding any horses
Horses should always be led with lead ropes
Children must check with an adult before retrieving any horse from the pasture
Cross ties are to be swept immediately after use for the benefit of the next person
Stall doors must always be latched back when open
Electric fences must always be hung up off the ground and not left dangling (it would be a disaster if a horse got its legs tangled in loose electric fencing)
Water hoses and electric cords are to be coiled up after use
Always check with Heather before turning horses loose in the riding ring
Please pick up your horse's droppings from the riding ring
Injections should take place in a stall
NO SMOKING in the tack room or around the barn
Terms of Service
These terms are to give you a general outline of what we expect of users of our facility, and what users may expect of us:
We require 24 hours notice of cancellation of any lesson. Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours notice may be rescheduled. Lessons cancelled on less than 24 hours notice will result in forfeiture of the lesson fee
Although lessons take place rain or shine, we reserve the right to cancel lessons on less than 24 hours notice if conditions are deemed unsafe or otherwise unsuitable
If a riding lesson is cancelled due to safety or suitability of conditions, the lesson may proceed as a stable management lesson or may be rescheduled to a riding lesson as agreed
Waivers/Releases must be signed by anyone handling horses
Horse Council of BC membership (and included insurance) is required for anyone riding a horse at Woodside outside of a lesson
One month's notice is required to cancel a lease programme. This gives us the opportunity to lease the horse and your lesson package to another rider, thereby allowing us to conduct a reliable and consistent schedule of lessons
Please be aware and respectful of all the barn rules as they are in force to ensure the safety of all participants (riders and visitors alike) and horses involved with Woodside Riding School
